Dirty Bandits, Bowery St, Chinatown, NYC (2021)

Artist statement: I think we are all walking around with a great deal of vulnerability in this time. To be painting this mural in Chinatown during a very sad and challenging time for AAPI people in cities across the country means so much. These murals are finding people in times and communities when they need to hear it. I always hope to create work that stops someone in their tracks for just a moment, perhaps it’s just for them, or maybe they photograph it and share it with someone close to them who could use it.

Annica is the cofounder of You Are Not Alone Murals. She is an art director, lettering artist, illustrator, and mural painter working with agencies and brands to create more authentic products, campaigns, and spaces. Work done by Dirty Bandits is fueled by Annica’s deep appreciation for type, her interest in storytelling, and dedication to brands and individuals working for social good. Projects include working with companies on campaigns, branding, books, lettering projects, and murals.⁠⁠
