Zipeng Zhu, Pier 17, 89 South Street, Manhattan, NY
painted with help from Alex Mi and Thibault Loiselet
Artist statement: Life is hard and it often leave us feeling alone, but that can't be further from the truth. For my YANA mural, I decided to create a striking type piece to celebrate the energy and resilience that we have as humans. The dynamic geometric lettering makes the mural feel not only bold but also filled with positivity. By putting the black and white typography on a lemon yellow background gives us so much contrast yet it’s warm and hopeful.
